One Billion Rising Campaign Kicks Off with Enthusiasm at Sakhi Kendra

The One Billion Rising campaign was launched with great enthusiasm today at the Sakhi Kendra office, where the women of Sakhi Kendra began the movement by blowing the trumpet and raising powerful slogans.

While addressing the gathering, General Secretary Neelam Chaturvedi highlighted the alarming reality of violence against women worldwide. She stated that with a global population of approximately 8 billion, surveys indicate that one in every three women experiences some form of violence. This means nearly one billion women face mental, physical, sexual, or economic abuse. The One Billion Rising movement, which started in 2012, has since become the largest global campaign against gender-based violence. This year, over 100 countries are actively participating to make a strong impact.

To mark the beginning of the campaign, a powerful awareness rally was organized in Shyam Nagar, where participants chanted energetic slogans demanding an end to violence against women. The rally aimed to spread awareness and mobilize the community towards creating a safer and more equitable society.

As the campaign progresses, Sakhi Kendra and its supporters are determined to amplify their voices and push for concrete actions to end gender-based violence. The movement is a testament to the collective strength of women and allies worldwide, standing together for justice and equality.
