Every year, International Women’s Day reminds us of the strength, resilience, and achievements of women around the world. On March 7, the eve of International Women’s Day, Sakhi Kendra organized a vibrant and meaningful gathering at its auditorium, bringing together women from different walks of life to celebrate their journeys, share experiences, and stand together for dignity and equality.
The program began with a warm and inspiring atmosphere. Archana facilitated the session while Prachi presented the organization’s song, setting the tone for the event. One of the most encouraging moments of the gathering was when young women leaders were invited to light the ceremonial lamp, symbolizing hope, leadership, and collective progress. This gesture reflected Sakhi Kendra’s belief in empowering the next generation of women leaders.

Neelam Chaturvedi, the Chief Functionary of Sakhi Kendra, addressed the participants and spoke about the ongoing struggle for women’s rights and dignity. She reminded everyone that although women make up half of the world’s population, they have long faced discrimination and violence. She also spoke about the global One Billion Rising campaign, which runs from February 14 to March 8 and mobilizes people across the world to raise their voices against violence against women.
Highlighting the organization’s journey, she shared that Sakhi Kendra has been working for more than four decades to support women facing violence and injustice. Over the years, the organization has assisted nearly 48,000 cases and has helped thousands of women access justice and rebuild their lives. These numbers reflect not only the scale of the problem but also the power of collective action and support.

The event also focused on awareness and practical knowledge. Pushpa spoke about the growing challenges of cybercrime and shared important helpline numbers with the participants. Maya Singh guided women on ways to protect themselves from different forms of violence and informed them about various government schemes that can support their well-being and independence.
The celebration also became a space for women to share their personal journeys. Many participants spoke openly about the struggles they had faced and how they overcame them with courage and determination. Their stories were powerful reminders that change begins when women support each other and refuse to give up. To recognize their achievements, Sapna, Sushma, Payal, Shashi, Priya, and Sakshi were honored with medals and mementos.

Adding joy and laughter to the day, several games and fun activities were organized. Women enthusiastically participated in games like the lemon race, hand sketch challenge, pair games, and other engaging activities. The competitive spirit mixed with laughter created a lively and memorable environment for everyone present.
Another colorful highlight of the event was the theme for the day. Participants were encouraged to wear red, green, or yellow outfits. Women carried balloons matching their chosen colors, filling the space with vibrancy and energy. Dancing, cheering, and celebrating together made the event feel like a true festival of women’s solidarity and happiness.

Around 80 women participated in the gathering, making it a truly collective celebration. The event concluded with the powerful slogans of the organization, leaving everyone with renewed motivation and a shared commitment to continue the fight for equality and justice.
This meaningful celebration was made possible by the dedicated efforts of the Sakhi Kendra team, including Neelam Chaturvedi, Prachi, Archana, Pushpa, Maya Singh, Maya Kuril, Anupama, Kiran Tiwari, and Prabha. Their commitment continues to create spaces where women can learn, share, celebrate, and grow together.
